Minnesota Wild hockey tickets would make an excellent holiday gift! Go ahead, buy some Wild tickets right now and cross off a few people on your list! You know you want to make it easy on yourself! No malls, no full parking lots, lugging shopping bags through the cold lot as you search for your car! Just buy from Ticket King St. Paul and pick up conveniently in the Minneapolis or St. Paul location! The staff is always friendly, and sure beats the 16 year old at the mall who is just there for a paycheck and could care less if you're finding what you're looking for...I think I've been watching too many commercials!

Let's go Wild!

Wild Buying Out Cam Barker

Once a former No. 4 overall pick filled with promise, Cam Barker is hitting a low point in his career. The Wild placed him on waivers yesterday, and any team in the league can take on the rest of the 25 year old defenseman's salary if they pick him up on waivers. Supposedly Baker's agent has contacted the team, pleading with them to keep Barker on the team for next seson.

Barker has had two spotty seasons with the Wild. He has been injured for parts of both of them but the production simply has not been there.

You know, Cam, we really wish this would have worked out. The Wild really believed in you, I mean thye spent the no.4 pick in the 2004 draft on you, but this really isn't working out. You didn't pan out the way the Wild had hoped and you will likely play elsewhere because of it.

Hockey Hockey Hockey at Xcel Energy Center

It’s not just the Minnesota Wild skating on the Xcel Energy Center ice in the month of March. The Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament takes over March 11 – March 14. Minnesota is known for having the most widely attended high school tournament in the nation! Often times the championship game sells-out. Local broker, Ticket King, has even been on the news due to the demand of over face value priced high school tickets. It’s not cheap if you love High School hockey and you aren’t a student at one of the participating schools, but you are guaranteed a great hockey experience.

Also skating on the Xcel Energy Center ice will be the best of college hockey during the WCHA Final Five Tournament on March 19 – March 21. The Gophers hockey team will need to beat St Cloud State this weekend in the first round of WCHA playoffs at Mariucci Arena in order to take the Xcel Energy Center ice this year. Let’s hope they can do it!

Other hockey games in March:
Minnesota Wild vs. Colorado Avalanche Tuesday 3/17/2009 7PM
(St Patrick’s Day)

Minnesota Wild vs. Edmonton Oilers Sunday 3/22/2009 2PM

Minnesota Wild vs. Vancouver Canucks Tuesday 3/31/2009 7PM

Xcel Energy Center has been Busy

The Xcel Energy Center St Paul has been a busy place the last two weeks. Hosting Coldplay, AC/DC and a slew of Minnesota Wild games. The arena has even got the attention of the DIY network and a show called Project Xtreme. Apparently, the DIY TV Show crew was there during the Xcel conversion from rock concert to NHL ice arena. According to the shows web site: “No project is too massive, too dangerous or too jaw-dropping to prevent contractor Jason Cameron from attempting it… These ain't your everyday DIY projects. These are projects truly taken to the extreme — with Jason's life often hanging in the balance.”

I am not sure if an arena conversion is life threatening, but it will be interesting to see our hometown Xcel Energy Center get recognized on a national show. The show airs Wednesday nights at 8:30pm.

The rest of this week is hockey for the Xcel, no dangerous transformations there, just keeping the ice temperature at a cool 32 degrees or less.

Have a great Thanksgiving! I am thankful to live in a city that has such a fine entertainment facility like the Xcel Energy Center.
