The Minnesota Wild won their home opener on Thursday night, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 4-2 in front of a sold-out crowd at the Xcel Energy Center. Mikko Koivu had 3 points, including 2 second period goals. He played exceptionally well and was the best player on the ice. It was the 9th straight home opening win at the Xcel Energy Center. The Wild will play the Columbus Blue Jackets at home on Saturday night.
